This card is a fantastic blocker and great at forcing your opponents to play around it. When playing against it, use cards with sigils like Brood Parasite, bellist, or dam builder to direct it away from your weaker cards. The hound isn't as powerful later in a match, but on your first couple of turns it can be great at shutting down an opponent's weaker cards.
